New Book!

Our New pick by Brooke. Looks to be a good one. I'm excited about starting. We're planning on reading to page 110 for next week. This is our last book of 2007 ladies!

We were discussing the other night that we should have a "Best of" for 2007. Sortave like the Dundee Awards. What do you guys think? Of the books we've read in 2007 we could have Best Book, Best Author, Tearjerker Award, Character most likely to be invited to Book Club Award, etc. Let me know what you guys think! Amish Christmas

I think it is funny that there is all this electronic info about the Amish but they can't see any of it or might not even know about it. What if people are saying the wrong things? They wouldn't even know, so they couldn't correct it. Oh well!!
Enjoy and hopefully the info is accurate - they must have Amish consultants - probably Sarah Fisher's 2nd job behind being a Plain wife, mother, and servant of the Lord.

Let's go fly a kite

WECT reported yesterday that UNCW freshmen got to design and fly kites after finishing "The Kite Runner" for their big project. Wow. I'd have done fantastic in school if all I had to do was fly kites. :)

New Book

Jennifer has picked out a Jodi Picoult book, "Plain Truth". We've liked her stuff in the past so I'm sure this will be another great one!

NO FAIR

Hey guys--just wanting to post a weekly update! We are finishing up our book for next week...it is so funny! Some of you have even finished it. And then Jennifer is picking our new book for next week. We're on a roll, but with the holidays coming up, we'll start slowing down, I'm sure, so don't freak out.
Do you like the picture? I put it up there so we would all remember that Brooke is in Hawaii this week. For 10 days. I found this picture online. It could very well be Brooke, I'm not sure. But that would be highly coincidental. And anyways, it looks like a dude.

Our Newest Read!!

So, I hope you are all excited about our newest book! We're reading the first 100 pages for next week. And we probably won't meet next week b/c of it being Halloween, but we'll figure it out--I guess the next week after have the book finished? And then who is going to pick out our next book?? Amanda, Rosie, Brooke, Jennifer? You guys need to decide amongst yourselves!

Okay guys--I know we all have a big reading weekend ahead of us....I am going to have to hustle to get this book done. I just have no idea how it is going to wrap up. I mean, I do, but I don't. I wonder when Dorothy will come back into the picture??

So, I thought I would wrap up the week with something that makes me laugh, Trudy Wiegel. I would love to have her at book club.

Crafty Beavers

This isn't related to Wicked, but I wonder if Charlotte Simmons ever thought about starting a craft club at the university called 'The Crafty Hillbilly Beavers'. She could have used the evil (a theme from our current book) she experienced to create good through mountain-like crafts..........

Turtle Heart

Hey guys!

We had some good conversation on Wicked last night and from what I hear, everyone is really enjoying it--I'm so glad, I was a little nervous about this one, I have to admit.

Everyone have a great weekend--we decided to read up to page 229 for next time. It's getting good. We all seem to be pulling for Elphaba even though we know what's going to happen. Kind of like Marley and me. I knew that dang dog was going to end up dying.

Broom Isle Beauties

Is it just me or does Brit look like she needs a pimp in this picture? She would not make it as a Broom Isle beauty since they are all such a bunch of sexpots. I am definitely seeing this book being made into a Lifetime movie. Perhaps we should be the ones to suggest it and they can give our book club props in the credits.

Other Book Club

When I was starting our blog the other night, I really wanted to get the name: wineandbooks.blogspot.com, but it was already taken. I didn't think anymore of it until today and I got on that blog.
I don't think their book club would like our book club. And I don't think they would like our required reading either. We should challenge them in a read-off.

Good Evening Book Club! I think our new blog is going to be too fun!
So, we read up to page 77 of our new book. So far, it is a sweet southern novel. My favorite part is when the main character thinks that Tot looks like a snow monkey. That made me laugh.
